Huntsman Spider

While preparing for PNJA class with Mrs. Krajewska and reading the article about Coober Pedy I thought it would be a great idea to move to that part of the world, where you don't have to spent fortune investing in real estate to live. You just blow the hole in the rock and there you are - in your own apartment, but... I made a small research in the Internet, wanting to find some more info, pictures and opinion about that town. It was very interesting to watch the landscape, read about people's life style and see the houses underground. Unfortunately I came across the article where the lady mentioned  the spider that she saw while visiting one of the chapels.  I really hate spiders ! The spider that she wrote about is called huntsman spider and is found throughout south-eastern Australia. It lives anywhere, favouring plants which will offer shelter such as ivy and they will come inside your house any time, brrrr !!!
These large spiders move very quickly, they are hairy with long legs. They also like to jump. They can measure up to 15 cm wide from leg to leg. Even though it is said they are harmless, they can still bite you, and if they do, it will be painful and swelling may occur. However a cold pack may relieve the symptoms.
Reading about this creatures and seeing them on the pictures & films made me change my mind about moving to Australia drastically.

  2. Hey, I like spiders :) Well, I used to hate them, but after I got to know more about them I realised they are fascinating. Though passing a test about them wasn't that easy...

  3. I can not understand completely how someone's attitude can be changed from hating them to get fascinated by them.
My attitude towards spiders have only changed in that aspect, that, when I was child I couldn't even look at them. Now I can, but still the idea of sleeping with one on my bedroom wall, for instance, make me feel horrified.
